"We should eat all of our provisions now so that we have less to carry."
~ Christopher Robbins, Winnie the Pooh

It is a good thing the boys at Akany aren't too familiar with Winnie the Pooh or they surely would have brought up the above quote before heading out for their recent weekend camp out with the scouts. Regardless of having to indeed carry their provisions all the way to camp, they still had a wonderful time. As they do every time they get gussied up in their neckerchiefs and shorts.

Many of the older boys participate in the scouting program. This includes day and overnight hikes, cookouts, games and even an occasional parade. But it is certainly not only Akany Avoko's boys that get in on all the fun. Some of the girls are also active in local scouting programs.

Either boy or girl, scouting offers a chance for children to expand their friends and horizons a bit, explore their community and brush up on some character development. All things the children at Akany Avoko need and deserve.

Clothes may not make the man, but uniforms certainly do help make the scout.

Scouts love games, but then again so do kids, so it is a perfect fit.
